TASCDerm
TASCDerm = Trial Assessment Scale for Cosmetic Dermatology
TASCDerm is a grid to enable you to evaluate the quality of a published clinical trial in cosmetic dermatology. It has been created by Dr Bell Eapen who will moderate this section.
In a nutshell
Clinical trials in cosmetic dermatology have some intrinsic limitations. Some of the prerequisites of a randomised controlled trial (RCT) such as blinding, allocation concealment and even randomization are difficult to achieve in cosmetic dermatology. Rigorous product or procedure evaluation is however urgently required. TASCDerm is both quick and simple enough for a busy practitioner to use. As well as practitioners the resulting assessments may also help journalists and even consumers.
